During this time, you can:

  • Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan (or the other way around)
  • Change from one Medicare Advantage plan to another plan
  • Review new benefits and coverage for next year’s Medicare Advantage plans

Can I Join a Medicare Advantage Plan

You are eligible to join a Medicare Advantage plan if:

  • You have Medicare Part A and Part B
  • You live in the plan’s service area
  • You may also qualify if you have employer or union coverage

If you join a Medicare Advantage plan, you do not need a Medigap or supplemental insurance plan.

Can I Switch Back to Original Medicare?

Yes, you can switch from a Medicare Advantage plan to Original Medicare during the Open Enrollment period.

Do I Need to Make Changes?

If you’re already enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan and you’re happy with your health plan, medical group, doctors, and benefits, you may not need to make any changes during the Annual Enrollment Period.

However, Medicare Advantage plans can make changes to benefits, costs, provider networks, and coverage each year. Be sure to carefully review your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) when you receive it from your health plan. This notice outlines any changes to your coverage for the upcoming year.

What Happens if I Miss Open Enrollment?

If you don’t make changes during Open Enrollment, you’ll stay in your current plan, but you may miss out on better coverage or lower costs for next year.
