Kenneth Grier, M.D.

Board Certified – Family Medicine – Primary Care Physician (PCP)

I see myself as my patients’ guide on their journey toward wellness, and believe that open communication and a team approach are the best avenues toward helping us achieve our goals. One of the most satisfying aspects of this work comes from playing a role in helping patients overcome barriers to better health. Something I’ve gained from my patients is an ever-expanding appreciation for the different perspectives and life experiences people bring to the table, and how these can influence health on a personal level. Patients can look forward to being able to speak openly about any medical concern, with development of a personalized care plan.

In high school, my interest in the sciences led me to enroll in a summer program through a medical school, further peaking my interest in the field. In my last years of high school, my interest in the sciences and their real-world applications towards improving health placed me on a path to becoming a physician. Since then, I’ve become convinced that a temperate lifestyle with an emphasis on strong preventative primary care is key to quality health.

Recreationally, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing guitar, and being actively involved with my local church; and taking time to relax to maintain a work-life balance. I enjoy tinkering with consumer electronics. If I wasn’t a doctor I might consider pursuing a career in computer science. I also maintain an active spiritual life through participation with my local church.

My goal at Heritage Victor Valley Medical Group is to help perpetuate a culture of positivity, doing my best to find small ways to enrich the lives of those I come into contact with. In my opinion, family medicine’s emphasis on ambulatory care makes it the most practical field for use in everyday life. I find it the most interesting and enjoy the continuity that’s available. I’ve learned to better appreciate the personal context each person brings with them as a result of their culture, life experiences, religions and beliefs. Intermittent review of medical literature helps me keep up on the most current practice guidelines and diagnostic and therapeutic modalities available. Depending on the situation, I like to set an agenda at the beginning of encounters with patients to help gauge expectations. Upfront and direct communications help as well. This is something you can’t get from a book, only from dealing with people.
