Heritage Urgent Care provides physician-ordered infusion therapy and outpatient blood transfusion services for our HMO members in a safe, comfortable clinical setting. These treatments allow medications, fluids, or blood products to be delivered directly into the bloodstream when oral medications are not effective, cannot be tolerated, or IV therapy is the necessary treatment for an illness.
Our team works closely with your healthcare provider to ensure your treatment is delivered safely and according to your care plan.
What Is Infusion Therapy?
Infusion therapy, also known as intravenous (IV) therapy, delivers medication or fluids directly into a vein through a small needle or catheter.
While many conditions are successfully treated with oral medications, some respond best to intravenous therapy. IV therapy may also be recommended when oral medications have not been effective or cannot be tolerated.
Your healthcare provider may recommend IV therapy when:

Chemotherapy infusions are NOT performed at this location.
Treatment is always determined by your healthcare provider based on your individual needs.
Orders and Evaluation
All consultations for possible blood transfusions are completed by an Urgent Care provider.
For other IV infusion therapies, treatment orders may come from your primary care physician or specialist.
If your doctor has already sent us orders for non-blood-related infusion services, we can use those orders to provide treatment.
If we do not have an order on file, an Urgent Care provider may need to evaluate you before treatment can be provided. If additional orders are needed from your primary care physician or specialist, our team will notify you and help coordinate your care.
Heritage Urgent Care offers outpatient blood transfusion services for HMO members who are medically stable and do not require hospital admission.
Your primary care provider or specialist may refer you to urgent care if you may benefit from a transfusion but are otherwise stable enough to receive treatment outside of the hospital.
When you arrive, an Urgent Care provider will evaluate your condition and review your lab results to determine whether a transfusion is needed and whether it can be safely performed in our urgent care setting.
